Start your tour in Toulouse, you’ll embark on a cycling excursion where you’ll feel the presence of all the cycling greats like Coppi, Anquetil, Merckx, Hinault, Fignon, Lemond, and Indurain. Along the way, you’ll ascend such epic climbs as Col de Peyresourde, Col du Tourmalet, Hautacam and many others where legends have been formed over the past 100 years. In addition to all of the world-class cycling, you’ll enjoy relaxing in the postcard villages of the French Pyrenees where you’ll be able to savor each day’s experience over delicious French cuisine and wines from the local vineyards. July 20th – Fly USA to France
July 21st – After your arrival in Toulouse our guides will pick you up at the Toulouse airport and help you get checked in at our airport hotel. After building bikes and getting all the final adjustments dialed in we will have a group meeting, going over the week ahead, safety & support and map review. Group dinner.
July 22nd- This morning we will set out from our airport hotel for a transfer to a town between Col des Ares and the base of Port de Bales with its climbs up to 14%. Welcome to the Pyrenees! We will set out for todays ride on the same route as the Tour de France all the way to the finish line where you can pick your spot along the race route and watch the TDF cyclist struggling across the finish line. Van transfer to Capvern les Bains. Check in for three nights .Group meeting.
July 23rd- After a tasty breakfast we will have an open day to ride. There is no better introduction to the Pyrenees then to set out and cycle a Col. Our ride starts from our hotel rolling along the way till we reach our first climb of the day-enjoy the majestic views as you conquer Pla d’Adet and side option of Val Louron. Van transfer back from St. Lary Soulon to Capvern les Bains. Group meeting.
July24th- Tour de France fans delight .Today we will experience all of the day’s excitement with live stage viewing on the famous Tourmalet . We will follow the race caravan as we set up to cycle the Tourmalet – this picturesque 19km & 7.4% average climb will be a challenge for all. At the top we will watch the riders in what is sure to be a critical mountain stage in the Pyrenees. After we watch the riders go by we will descent with the crowd of TDF fans and return up the valley to our hotel. Share the days exciting details and stories with your fellow riders at group dinner.
July 25th- Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and get ready for todays climbing challenge. We have one last unforgettable day of cycling planned for you in the Pyrenees. A three Col day will be felt by all. We will ride over the Col de Peyresourde a 15.27km climb with average grade: 6.1 % , Col de Mente a 9.3km long and with 9.1% average and finishing todays climbing challenge with Col de Portet d’Aspet. We will end this epic day with a short transfer to our hotel in St. Girons.
July 26th- As the TDF heads north to Paris we will have one last unforgettable day of cycling leaving the Pyrenees. Cycle from our hotel in St.Girons rolling through the Mid -Pyrenees and check out the amazing Grotte du Mas d’Azil and its stunning geological formations and pre historic caves along the way. Continue on thru on the rolling terrain and the sunflower roads towards outskirts of Toulouse. Reflect all the spectacular moments of the past week of the TDF/Pyrenees tour on our transfer back to airport hotel in Toulouse. Airport transfers provided tonight or tomorrow morning.
