Trip Highlights

Challenge the “Roads of the Champions” on this TDF TourPak/RacePak Combo cycling journey set amidst the incredible French Alpes. Enjoy live race viewing of two of the most dramatic mountain stages of the 2015 Tour de France -one on Col du Glandon and the  other -queen stage of the 2015 TDF on the L’Alpe-D’Huez! Highlights of this exclusive tour include cycling through the Isere Valley, Rhone-Alpest and the amazing Maurienne Nature Park with overnights in Aix les Bains & four nights in Les Deux Alpes . This year’s itinerary lets you cycle from hotel to hotel without the usual daily van transfers and madness that is associated with following the Tour de France from region to region. We will be staying in Les Deux Alpes for four nights this year, so unpack,relax and ride at your own pace over epic routes that include the Col de la Sarenne, L’Alpe D’Huez,Les Deux Alpes,Telegraphe & Galibier, Col’s du Glandon; Croix de la Fer plus others – all laced with tight hairpin turns, lush green meadows and pristine alpine lakes. Feel the emotion as Froome, Contador Nibali & Valverde fill your soul in this famous battleground of the world’s greatest cyclists!

 

Daily Itinerary

July 19th: Depart the USA

July 20th:  Arrive in Geneva. Airport pickup and deluxe hotel check-in. Our mechanics would be happy to help you unpack your bike or set up a rental bike for an afternoon warm-up spin along Lake Geneva and the local sunflower fields. Tonight meet your fellow guests at our “Welcome Meeting/Group Dinner Party”.

July 21st:  After breakfast and a short transfer we’ll start our cycling journey with a ride past vibrant sunflower fields and vineyards on our way through the Rhone River Valley to the picturesque lakeside town of Aix-les-Bains. Stroll the cobbled streets of ‘Old Town’ before dinner at a charming outdoor cafe. Open night for dinner.

July 22nd: After breakfast a short a.m. van transfer, we’ll spin up the Val d’Maurienne before taking on the Col du Telegraphe on our way up to majestic Col du Galibier! After lunch at the top of Col du Lautaret, a long thrilling descent and final push to up to Les 2 Alpes! Its a epic day for the climbers. We’ll enjoy four nights at a deluxe chalet/spa in this charming ski resort village which is set in the shadows of a glacier. Our group dinner tonight will include local specialties and fine wine from the region.

July 23rd: Open day for race viewing.Today’s ride takes you onto the official race route as you challenge the historic Col du Glandon. Pick your spot on the climb – cheer on your favorite pro and witness the racers struggle one by one over the top on their way to Saint- Jean-de-Mourienne. After race goes by you’ll have an option to cycle back to hotel or take van shuttle to the top of Les 2 Alpes from a pre-designated pick up spot . Group dinner.

July 24th: Another day of unbelievable cycling in the French Alpes .Your loop ride today will start with a descent on a little known side road then followed by a climb up Col de Sarenne -take in the open glacier views at the top then continue on down to the village of L’Alpe d’Huez . The route then continues rolling through little side known roads of historic village of  La Garde and it’s each of the eleven hamlets that hang on to the vertical side with a sheer drop and up finally up to our home base in Les Deux Alpes. Open night for dinner.

July 25th: After early breakfast its an open day to ride/view the live finish at L’Alpe d’Huez. Bring plenty of sunscreen and water and find your ideal race viewing spot on the Alpe .After race goes through bypass all the race & spectator post-race traffic, by cycling a side route off the mountain, riding the little known Col de la Sarenne on your way back to Les 2 Alpes. Group dinner.

July 26th: Our final ride takes us over Col du Glandon with an side option to do Col de la Croix Fer. Check your break pads at the top one last time as your tour ends with a 20+ km screaming descent to La Chambre. Van transfer to our base hotel in Geneva area. Breakdown/pack  bikes,.We will provide early evening Geneva airport van shuttles. We also offer OPTIONAL hotel reservations for tonight at out base hotel in Divonne Les Bains if you need to fly home tomorrow.
