This region of France and it’s endless variety of cycling routes that follow the river paths in the lower valleys and it’s endless Alpine passes – are right outside your hotels door in Lake Annecy & Aix les Bains.. This unique cycling tour in the French Alpes is designed to link the three major lakes together (Lake Geneva, Lake Bourget and Lake Annecy) it lets you experience the superb cycling in the Alpes & the surrounding lush valleys during the day and our 4-star luxurious accommodations at night. When your cycling for the day is over, schedule a Spa Treatment at our 4-star hotel or walk into the center in old towns of Aix les Bains & Annecy called by some as “Venice of the Alpes” and stroll along its cafe and restaurant lined streets surrounded by medieval architecture and the majestic Alpes. July 9th:- Depart the USA for France.
July 10th: -Welcome to Geneva. Airport pick up and a 15 minute van transfer to our 4-star hotel located in a small village on the French side of the lake. After hotel check in our mechanic can help you with a set up of your own bike or dial in a Parlee rental bike. Take a warm up spin along Lake Geneva and in the surrounding Jura mountains or you can just relax and go for a swim or schedule a spa treatment at our hotel before a group meeting and dinner.
July 11th: -After breakfast and hotel check out our first ride takes us from the shores of Lake Geneva to our deluxe lakeside hotel on Lake Annecy. You will ride through scenic Gorge de Sierroz and Isere River Valley while stair stepping through the Jura mountains your way to “Venice of the Alpes” in the French Alpes.
July 12th:- Wake up to the smell of fresh croissants and magnificent views of the Lake Annecy. Today’s route will have a nice warm up along the lake before we hit the first climb of the day Col de la Forclaz – enjoy the lake views that seem to go forever from the top of Forclaz . After refueling at the top-check your brake pads before a screaming descent down into the lush valley. If you had enough you can cycle back to the hotel or you may choose to do the side option of Col de la Croix Fry.
July 13th:- After breakfast on our hotel’s panoramic terrace over looking the lake- today’s cycling loop will give you a chance to see and explore the western side of Lake Annecy. No tour in this region of the French Alpes would be perfect without the exploring the beautiful high valleys and vistas of the colossal massif of the Semnoz. Todays route is a challenging one that will follow the back roads to the top of Mt. Revard and a side option of Cret de Chatillon.
July 14th:- Today’s route is a flatter course which will give you a chance for recovery while following little known back roads that wind their way along the hill side and wine grown region of Rhone-Alpes on our way to Lake Bourget and the popular spa town of Aix les Bains for two nights.
July 15th:- Aix Les Bains: After a very short a.m. van transfer to Albertville, Choose a basic loop that includes the Col de Tamie and the Col de la Croix-Fry or add on the Col des Aravis and the picturesque Col des Saisies…both of these featured Tour De France climbs have incredible views of Mont Blanc in the distance! Relax after your ride either poolside watching the final hours of today’s TDF stage on live TV in the hotel’s bar or at a outside cafe in old town of Aix les Bains
July 16th:- Aix Les Bains: After breakfast and hotel check out we will tackle one of the most challenging days of the week. We will have a nice warm -up ride around the lake with an optional climb of Col du mont du Chat on your way to to Culoz and the final challenge of this tour which will take us up the monster that is the Grand Colombiere and its 4,500 ft of elevation gain. Take a breath at the top and enjoy the final views of the Alpes before plunging down the twisty descent all the way to Culoz. After lunch we will have a short van transfer back to our Geneva area hotel. Breakdown bikes.Stay an OPTIONAL NIGHT or hotel transfers in the evening.
