This cycling vacation is a picture perfect mixture that offers variety of landscapes  which include medieval castles and villages on the Rhine plains , glacier lakes, high altitude meadows with deep valleys & pine forests in the mountains . Neither as high nor with passes as long as the Alps or the Pyrenees, this is nevertheless a mountain environment with alpine views and long descents through ancient forests on perfect roads which is your reward for all the hard work of climbing up. Daily Itinerary

July 17th: Leave the USA
July 18th: Welcome to Strasbourg , France.  Airport pick up and hotel check in.  Our mechanic will be happy to help you unpack and build your bike and do the final adjustments for rental bikes. Tonight meet your fellow guests at our “Welcome Meeting/ Group Dinner Party”
July 19th: After breakfast and a short transfer the first part of todays route will take us in and out of Germany and then continue south towards Kaysersberg into picture perfect countryside that is clustered with villages , castles and vineyards along the way to Vosges Regional park . This region of also happens to be one of the finest wine growing areas in Alsace.
50mi /1250 ft or 72mi /1,500 ft.
July 20th: Today’s route will feature a classic day of cycling through ancient forests and plenty of up and as many downs. Striking views of French  Chateau’s littered with vineyards and the serpentine roads that snake though Black Forest are just some of the scenery that we will be passing through today on our ride to hillside village of Le Hohwald  Climbs on this route are Mt Ste Odile and the climb to Le Chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg. Hotel check in for 2 nights.

July 21st: Wake up to the smell of freshly baked croissants . Today you’ll have a choice between two loop rides . We will start our journey with a ride past vibrant sunflower fields and rolling hills today.s  routes  take us along quiet mountain roads and historic medieval villages. Climbs on this routes include Col du Donon, Col Champ du Feu.
47mi. /4,000 ft or 60 mi / 5,500 ft.
July 22nd: After hotel check out and breakfast on today’s ride we will be heading towards Lake Valley and the heart of the Vosges Mountains where the crossroads of Lorraine and Alsace meet . Nestled in a splendid verdant setting , amongst lakes , forests and mountains is the town Gerardmer where we will be staying for two nights . Climbs -Col de Fouchy , Col du Bonhomme , Col de Schlucht , Col du Calvaire.  Hotel check in for 2 nights.
65 mi/6,500 ft
July 23rd:  After a petit-dejeuner  of warm pastries and fresh fruit you’ll  choose between an easy riding scenic ride with the last climb up to Col de Sapois the only climbing challenge of the day or choose a longer more challenging loop that adds more elevation to your day   before heading back to our hotel in Gerardmer . Col de Sapois and ski resort of Super Basse.
35mi / 3,000 ft or 55mi / 5,500ft.
July 24th: Breakfast and hotel check out. Our final ride of this cycling vacation takes us back down the fertile Lorraine valley, past ancient chateaux’s and local  vineyards. Half way though this route you will have your final challenge of this tour -the Col du Grand Ballon. After lunch we will transfer back to our airport area hotel . Our mechanics will assist you in packing your bike for your flight home that evening or you can stay an OPTIONAL  NIGHT  and fly out the following day.
